SAILS UP 4 CANCER REGATTA

June 22, 2013

Organizing Authority: The Mystic River Yacht Club

RULES: Races will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing, the Prescriptions of US Sailing, rules of the PHRF of Eastern Connecticut and the rules of participating one-design classes.

ADVERTISING: Advertising will be restricted to Category A, unless permission is granted by the MRYC.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY: The series is open to all racing and cruising handicap boats and to one-design classes of at least six (6) entrants. Entries will be accepted and assigned to classes at the discretion of the Race Committee. Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker boats are eligible. A copy of a 2013 PHRF of Eastern Connecticut certificate should accompany the entry form. Boats without an established rating will be assigned one. Entries close June 21, 2013 at 1600hrs.

FEES: $50.00 per boat, payable to Sails Up 4 Cancer. Includes admission to the post Regatta Shore Party for up to (5) crew members. Additional tickets may be purchased for $20/each.

START: First warning at 1130 hours. The starting sequence will be made available along with Sailing Instructions and Scratch Sheets at the Skippers meeting the night before the race at 1800 hours at The Mystic River Yacht Club, 14 Holmes Street, Mystic, CT 06355 and from the MRYC Committee boat the day of the race prior to the first warning.

COURSES: Courses will be in the Fishers Island Sound & L.I. Sound area and displayed on the MRYC Race Committee boat. Course Marks will be indicated in the Sailing Instructions. Race Course lengths will vary according to local conditions and class entries.

STARTING AREA: The starting area will be in the vicinity of Seaflower Reef and be of windward/leeward and or triangle variations as described in the Sailing Instructions.

SCORING: The Low-Point PHRF based “time on time” Scoring System of RRS Appendix A will be used.

RADIO COMMUNICATIONS: VHF Channel 72 will be used between the Race Committee and all participating boats.

AWARDS EVENT: The Awards Event will be held immediately following the completion of the race at The Mystic Shipyard grounds 100 Essex Street, Mystic, CT 06355. There will be five (5) tickets provided to each skipper for the post Regatta Awards Event. Additional tickets may be purchased from MRYC at the shore party for $20.00 each. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place boats in each class. Food and beverages will be provided and Skippers, crew, friends, and family members are encouraged to attend and support Sails Up 4 Cancer.

ENTRY: Entry forms will be made available and should be filled out completely and mailed to the Mystic River Yacht Club 14 Holmes Street, Mystic, CT 06355. Forms will be available at www.su4c.org and www.mysticriveryachtclub.com

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Will be made available at June 22, 2013 at the Mystic River Yacht Club, Committee Boat on the day of the race and online at www.mysticriveryachtclub.com
